“I work on location and through the analysis and interpretation of a given space, I make site and context specific works, which result in installations and performances. Usually I work with taken-for-granted or overlooked aspects of a specific location, using materials at hand or glass. What I try to do on each site, is to make something that is already there, present in a way that it becomes experiential for the public. I create situations for an experience, which is an invitation to alter one’s perception and raise an inwards oriented awareness.

‘The highest level of expression is not to create something from nothing, but rather to nudge something which already exists so that the world shows up more vividly.’ — Lee Ufan

My work deals with the ever-changing nature of things and concepts of space, time, beauty, impermanence and the human condition. I re-articulate the space by subtle spatial gestures, creating a place for encounter of the self; mental space for daydreaming and memory. My artwork denies the expected functionality of the object or space. Instead, it functions to stop the viewer caught in the habitual perception and unleash something that is normally rushed through and suppressed.

During Diafaan 5, I will present several interventions using glass objects in the Begijnhof. I will also transform one of the side entrances to the church into a tea room for an encounter with Josephine Lee who will be serving tea to the guests inspired by the Eastern tradition of a tea ceremony using self made glass utensils.”
